In my experience, this kind of thing — a package update that breaks an app — happens about once per distro release. They are generally fixed in between one and two weeks. Sometimes (but not this time) there is a workaround before then. In this case I suffered with the crashes (which seemingly happened at random). I still had Firefox when I needed a non-crashy browser.
